1. Ministry Raises Concerns:
The Union Health Ministry has raised eyebrows over the case of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents welcoming a baby through In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). According to ministry guidelines, only women aged between 21 to 50 are eligible for IVF treatment, yet the singer’s mother, Charan Kaur, is 58 years old.

2. Request for Report:
The ministry sent a letter to the Punjab government on March 14, seeking a report on Charan Kaur’s IVF treatment. This move came after a newspaper article published on February 27 highlighted the couple’s IVF journey to conceive their second child, nearly two years after the tragic loss of their only son in May 2022.

3. Punjab Government’s Response:
In response, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, affirmed their respect for the sentiments and dignity of Punjabis. They clarified that it was the central government that had requested the documents regarding the IVF treatment. The government urged the public to rely on factual information and not succumb to rumors.

On Tuesday, Sidhu Moose Wala’s father, Balkaur Singh, accused the Punjab government of harassment following the birth of their second son on March 17. In an Instagram video, he claimed that the government was demanding documents to prove the child’s legality. Notably, Singh did not disclose the use of IVF treatment in conceiving their second child.

5. Commitment to Compliance:
Despite the accusations, Balkaur Singh asserted his commitment to following all legal procedures and producing necessary documents. He stated his readiness to comply with the authorities’ requests.
